PART 1: DAMAGE SURVEY (11 MIN.)

In the Sailrite booth at the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, MD, sailing writer and charter skipper, Wally Moran and Sailrite’s Matt Grant assess the damage to a torn batten pocket and leechline on Wally’s backup mainsail.

PART 2: BATTEN POCKET REPAIR (22 MIN.)

In the Sailrite booth at the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, MD, sailing writer and charter skipper, Wally Moran helps Sailrite’s Matt Grant use the LSZ-1 sewing machine to patch a tear and restitch a batten pocket to Wally’s backup mainsail.

PART 3: LEECH LINE REPAIR - APPLY TAPES (10 MIN.)

At a local marina, Wally and his friend Kathy begin repairing the damaged main sail leech by applying self adhesive sail tapes to replace missing fabric and build a new leech pocket.

PART 4: LEECH LINE REPAIR - SEW TAPES (3 MIN.)

Wally uses the Sailrite LSZ-1 sewing machine to secure the repair tape for the new leech pocket on his backup mainsail. Wally uses manual mode since this is the first time he’s used the machine and want’s to take it slow.

PART 5: BEND ON SAIL (5 MIN.)

In the final episode, Wally examines the repairs he’s made to the mainsail now bent onto his Dufour 34 sloop, “Gypsy Wind”. He describes the steps in the repair process and gives us his review of the Sailrite machine. Wally then motors “Gypsy Wind” out into the creek and hoists the repaired main to give us a look at how the sail sets.
